A polyp is a tumor with a narrow base which springs from the mucus membrane. Repeated irritation may cause the membrane to become distended, filling up with a soft gelatinous growth.
Polyps occur mostly in the nasal passages, but are also found in the colon, vagina, or uterus. They are not painful, but nasal polyps can obstruct the nasal passages and interfere with breathing. The sufferer of nasal polyps may sniffle and snore, and even bleed from the polyps due to repeated nasal irritation from cold, allergy, or air pollution.
Nasal polyps are caused by chronic inflammation of the mucus membranes in the nostril which can create a chronic sinus condition.
Herbal Remedy for Polyps
A natural polyps remedy is to inhale powdered bloodroot herb. In Dr. Chase's day this was considered a very effective cure.
Another remedy is to mix 4 grains of powdered bloodroot herb into an ounce of Vaseline and apply it directly to the polyp with a cotton swab.
Polyps could also be surgically removed, but more often than not natural remedies were heavily relied upon to cure them. Nowadays the most common treatment for polyps is to remove them surgically.
